Taos At The Trails in Albuquerque, NM

Taos at The Trails is a single-family subdivision in northwest Albuquerque, set off Universe Boulevard just south of Paseo del Norte. It sits inside The Trails, a master-planned development of roughly 450 acres in the far northwest of the city. Express Homes, D.R. Horton's value brand, built the houses in phases, and the last of those phases, Taos II, has sold out. Residents belong to The Trails Community Home Owners Association, which maintains the parks, walking trails and open space that give the larger development its name.

The association is run by HOAMCO. Dues cover common areas, road maintenance and security, and they buy into a set of shared facilities across the development: an open-air pavilion with a playground beside it, a sand volleyball court and a wide grass field at Hailey Ratliff Park, a fenced dog park, and separate baseball and soccer parks. Native and neighborhood walking paths tie the greenspace together.

The Trails was platted as a mixed-use plan, with apartment tracts and a band of commercial space alongside the single-family land. Price Land Development Group handled the land development, and the lots went to a mix of regional and national homebuilders, which is why the pockets inside it carry separate names.

The area's public schools are Tierra Antigua Elementary, Tony Hillerman Middle and Volcano Vista High, all on the west side. Paseo del Norte is the main road out, connecting to Coors Boulevard, Montano Road and I-40 for the drive toward downtown or the university.
