For day-to-day shopping, most residents head down Tramway or over to the Paseo del Norte corridor rather than walking to anything; this is not a neighborhood built around retail. What it is built around is open space. Elena Gallegos Open Space, with its picnic areas and multi-use trail network, sits right at the community's edge, and the Piedra Lisa trailhead and the greater Sandia Foothills trail system are a short drive north along Tramway. The tramway base itself is close enough that plenty of residents treat the mountain as a backyard amenity rather than a tourist stop.
