Old Town Community
Old Town has been here since 1706. Governor Francisco Cuervo y Valdés laid out a plaza, a church went up beside it, and farm plots ran down toward the river. Everything else in Albuquerque grew around that. Anyone shopping Old Town homes for sale should understand the deal up front: this is a working residential neighborhood wrapped around one of the busiest visitor destinations in New Mexico. That cuts both ways, and I'll get to it.The historic district covers about eight-tenths of a square mile, bounded roughly by Rio Grande Boulevard, Mountain Road, 19th Street and Central Avenue. All of it sits in 87104. Two blocks off the plaza the gift shops stop and the houses start, and the change is abrupt.The housesAdobe, mostly.
