Vista Hills in Rio Rancho, NM

Vista Hills is an established single-family neighborhood in the older, gridded part of Rio Rancho, off Southern Boulevard NE and a short run from where Rockaway Boulevard meets NM 528. AMREP platted the ground as part of its Rio Rancho Estates development, and the houses went up through the mid-1980s, recorded on the plats as Vista Hills and Vista Hills West. The streets are public and no association governs them. Vista Hills Park anchors the middle of it: about five and a half acres of hilly ground with a playground, picnic tables under a shade structure, a grass field and a nine-hole disc golf course.

Vista Hills Park doubles as the neighborhood's public open space, and its nine-hole disc golf layout is listed in the Professional Disc Golf Association course directory. A parking lot sits off Rockaway Boulevard NE, and the ground rolls enough that the course plays over slopes rather than flat turf.
