Westgate Heights in Albuquerque, NM

Westgate Heights is a residential neighborhood on Albuquerque's Southwest Mesa, strung along 98th Street SW. Its anchor is the Westgate Community Center, which opened in 2021 with a fitness room, senior meals and ESL classes, then gained a splash pad, warming kitchen and extra classrooms in a second phase. The thirteen-acre site around it holds two basketball courts, a covered picnic area and a short paved walking loop. A library branch sits a few streets away in Carlos Rey Park. Building continues at Sage Ranch, where Westway Homes puts up desert contemporary plans east of 98th, and a neighborhood association meets monthly at the community center.

Two named pockets sit inside the neighborhood. Sage Ranch is the newer one, laid out just south of the 98th and Sage intersection on the east side of 98th, where four floor plans come with lofts and office space. Hoffman City is the older subdivision name on record here, attached to streets platted well before the current round of building.

The community center doubles as a civic hub. Weekday senior meals run alongside youth programming and English as a Second Language classes, and the Westgate Heights Neighborhood Association takes the third Thursday of each month there. The library branch keeps public Windows workstations, free WiFi and inexpensive printing, and gives over Mondays to pickleball; it has no meeting or study rooms.

The center's second construction phase also put a bus stop on the site, alongside the new kitchen and meeting spaces.
