Savio Ridge in Albuquerque, NM
Savio Ridge sits on the north side of Arroyo Vista Blvd NW where it meets Tierra Pintada, out on Albuquerque's far west mesa in 87120. Anyone shopping Savio Ridge homes for sale who hasn't driven out here should do that first. Take the Arroyo Vista exit off I-40, head north about a mile and a half, and watch for the stadium.
The corner it sits on
That stadium is Nusenda Community Stadium at 1601 Arroyo Vista Blvd NW. Albuquerque Public Schools opened it in 2013 and it seats roughly 7,000 for football and track. Right next door at 1801 is the city's Albuquerque Regional Sports Complex, five lit synthetic-turf fields on 72 acres, formally named the Jennifer Riordan Spark Kindness Sports Complex. Savio Ridge faces both across the boulevard.
So understand what you're buying. On a Friday night in the fall, or a Saturday when every field is booked, there's traffic and there are lights. Some buyers love that. Kids can walk to a game instead of being driven across town. Others take one look at the parking lots and keep going. See it on an event night before you write an offer.
Houses and lots
All of this is new. Pulte is the builder, with single-story and two-story plans running roughly three to five bedrooms and somewhere between about 1,800 and 3,100 square feet. The look is what production builders do across the west mesa now: stucco, muted desert colors, low parapet rooflines, two-car garage up front. It isn't Pueblo Revival in any historic sense, but it reads Southwest from the curb.
Lots are production-sized and walled, which is standard out here. Don't expect an acre. Expect a back yard you can actually keep up with and block wall on three sides. The city's Environmental Planning Commission signed off on the site plan in early 2025 under case PR-2025-011387, so the neighborhood is early in its build-out. Streets are still filling in and the landscaping is young. Fiber is run to the homes, which matters more than people expect if you work from home.
Because it's still delivering, what's available shifts constantly. The listings on this page are the live picture.
Schools
Tres Volcanes Community Collaborative is basically the neighbor, a K-8 at 9601 Tierra Pintada Blvd NW. That's a walk, not a drive, and it's one of the better practical arguments for this location. High school is West Mesa. APS redraws boundaries from time to time, so confirm the assignment for a specific address rather than trusting what a listing sheet says.
Outside your door
You're up on the mesa, and that buys two things. Long views east to the Sandias, and the sunsets people out here actually talk about. The volcanoes the school is named for are part of Petroglyph National Monument, just north and west of you. The Volcanoes Day Use Area sits off Atrisco Vista Blvd about 4.8 miles north of I-40, with trails running anywhere from a mile to six.
The honest counterweight is wind. Spring on the west mesa is blustery and dusty, and there are no mature trees yet to break any of it up. That isn't a Savio Ridge problem, it's a west mesa fact. New buyers are still surprised by it.
Shopping and the drive
Retail is thin this far west and you should plan around that. The closest everyday grocery run is the Walmart Neighborhood Market at Unser and Ladera. Ladera Shopping Center at Coors and Ladera adds another cluster. For a real errand day you're heading to Coors, or north toward Cottonwood.
On the commute, I-40 is a mile and a half off and downtown is roughly ten miles east. It's a clean run at seven in the morning and a slower one at five. Unser Blvd is the north-south spine if you work toward Paseo del Norte or Rio Rancho. If your job is at UNM, Sandia Labs or Kirtland, drive it once in rush hour and decide honestly whether you want that every day.
Who it suits
Buyers who want a house nobody has lived in, who'd rather have a builder warranty than a mature cottonwood, and who get more square footage here than the same money buys closer in. Anyone who puts a walkable K-8 near the top of the list. People who use those ballfields.
It suits you less if you want walkable restaurants, an established streetscape, or a short drive to the university area. Albuquerque has all of that. It just isn't out here yet.
