Santa Fe Village in Albuquerque, NM

Santa Fe Village is a residential neighborhood on Albuquerque's west side, west of Unser Boulevard and south of Montaño Road, with Petroglyph National Monument wrapping three of its sides. The volcanic escarpment sets the western edge, so the streets stop where the monument begins. Santa Fe Village Park anchors the middle of it, with a playground, sports fields, a dog park and two paved walking loops, and the Taylor Ranch library sits alongside. There is no mandatory homeowners association; the neighborhood association is a volunteer group that charges no dues.

The Santa Fe Village Neighborhood Association is recognized by the city's Office of Neighborhood Coordination and asks no membership fee. It runs a calendar rather than a rulebook: a neighborhood night out, a flea market, a holiday lights contest.

The city rebuilt the park playground under a capital improvement project finished in the summer of 2025, replacing equipment that had been the oldest in the municipal park system. Shade structures, benches and picnic tables came with it, and the sand play surface gave way to wood chips. The two concrete loops run about a third of a mile and seven tenths of a mile, the shorter one circling the play area, with a southern stretch steep enough to notice.

The monument does more than border the place: the park service keeps offices at its Unser Boulevard entrance just up the road. ABQ Ride routes 94 and 162 serve the Unser and Montaño corner.
