Homes for Sale in Enclave at High Desert

Search for Enclave at High Desert homes for sale and you'll land on one of the gated villages tucked inside High Desert, the community that climbs the east side of Tramway Boulevard toward the foot of the Sandia Mountains. Enclave sits off Calla Lily Circle and Greyleaf Trail, in the 87111 zip code, behind its own locked gates within High Desert's larger perimeter.

The bigger picture: High Desert itself

High Desert was planned from scratch starting in the 1990s by the High Desert Investment Corporation, an arm of Albuquerque Academy, working with the landscape architecture firm Design Workshop. Instead of clearing the site, the plan kept the arroyos and juniper prairie in place and set aside roughly half the land as open space. That approach still shows today: the gaps between villages, the native landscaping instead of turf, roads that bend around washes rather than through them. Homes across High Desert date from the mid-1990s onward, built out in phases over many years, so you'll find pockets that feel newer next to others that are two decades settled.

Life behind the gate

Enclave is one of several gated villages inside High Desert, each with its own supplemental HOA sitting under the umbrella High Desert Residential Owners Association. Two vehicle gates, north and south, control who drives in, plus pedestrian gates for residents walking over from other parts of the community. Get in with a remote clicker or a gate card; guests use a phone keypad at the entrance. On top of the village's own gates, all of High Desert shares a 24-hour security patrol. It's the kind of setup buyers who travel often, or who just like an extra layer between the street and the front door, tend to ask for by name.

The housing stock is attached product, condos and townhomes rather than the big custom lots found in some of High Desert's other villages. That's worth knowing before you tour: if you want acreage or a three-car garage on a half-acre, look elsewhere in the community. If you want to lock the door and leave for a month without worrying about the roof or the yard, Enclave is built for exactly that.

Getting around

Tramway Boulevard is the spine here, and it's a short hop to I-40, which puts Uptown, Nob Hill, and downtown within reach without much traffic to fight. Academy Road and Paseo del Norte cover the east-west trips toward the northern suburbs or across town to the West Side. For groceries, Trader Joe's on Holly and the shops at La Cueva Town Center on Wyoming are both a quick drive, and Winrock and ABQ Uptown handle the bigger errands.

Trails out the back door

What people are really buying in this part of town is what sits behind it. Elena Gallegos Open Space, 640 acres of city-owned foothills right off Tramway, starts a few minutes from Enclave's gates. It has trailheads for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding, plus direct access into the Sandia Mountain Wilderness beyond. On a clear evening you can see west past the city to Mt. Taylor, and the elevation here, above 6,000 feet, keeps summer nights noticeably cooler than down in the valley.

Schools

Kids in Enclave feed into Albuquerque Public Schools: Georgia O'Keeffe Elementary, Eisenhower Middle School, and Eldorado High School, all within a few minutes' drive of the neighborhood.

Who it suits

Enclave works well for buyers who want the High Desert name and the foothills scenery without taking on a big lot or a long maintenance list. Think downsizers coming from a bigger custom home elsewhere in the community, or professionals who split their time between here and somewhere else. It's not the pick for someone chasing a big yard for kids and dogs; the detached villages elsewhere in High Desert cover that better. But for a gated, low-maintenance foothold in one of Albuquerque's best-known addresses, it's a strong option.
