Encanto Village in Albuquerque, NM

Encanto Village is a gated subdivision on Albuquerque's southwest mesa, at Bridge Boulevard and Unser Boulevard SW. Its single-family houses went up in the early 2000s, most of them by D.R. Horton, and the streetscape mixes modern clay-tile roofs with custom pueblo-style homes. Inside the gates are a community park and a decorative water feature, and the interior streets get plenty of foot traffic. The homeowners association is an active one: summer picnics, an ice cream social, a holiday light-decorating contest. Common areas, road maintenance and security fall to the association.

The association handles the property with an on-site manager and keeps residents current through its own website and a resident app, where notices about maintenance, security and neighborhood happenings are posted.

The Albuquerque Public Schools campuses serving this part of the southwest mesa are Edward Gonzales Elementary, Jimmy Carter Middle and West Mesa High.
